Overview

Stage 6 is not particularly long or difficult, but by the end you are in an astonishing place. By the end of Stage 6, you are basically not bothered by gross or subtle dullness; gross or subtle distractions. You can go ten minutes of everything being rock solid. This is a very surprising place to be, given the nothing-but-distractions-and-dullness experience of the early stages. This happens just through repeats of the basic practice. TMI rightly celebrates the completion of Stage 6 as the second major milestone, and you should too.

An interesting thing to observe is that you will sometimes go for minutes of time without conscious intervention. This a lower level system in your brain at work, learning how to keep attention on the breath. This ability is the primary development in Stage 7.

You may get glimpses of future states – a white milky appearance over your vision with your eyes closed; some involuntary shivers. The are Previews of Coming Attractions.
