The importance of a group

It is more effective to have feedback from a group when you are in a meditation practice. Sharing experience, what worked and what didn’t; the innumerable odd but irrelevant things that happen during meditation.

There is also a “practice effect”. Basketball players, for example, get nearly as much gain from imagining themselves playing basketball as they do from actually playing. The same thing seems to occur in meditation: talking about your practice tends to make you relive it, and relive it is not that far from actually doing it (!)

Best, of course, would be regular interaction with other practitioners. The reddit subgroup, reddit.com/r/TheMindIlluminated, is also a good way to talk with others.
